Fruit body: 20-50cm across. Pale ochre. Made up of many flat curled lobes giving the appearance of a cauliflower.

Stem: Short thick same colour as fruit body.

Spores: Pale yellow

Habitat: On the stumps or roots of coniferous trees

Frequency: Frequent

Season:  Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  Jun  Jul  Aug  Sep  Oct  Nov  Dec 

Edibility: Edible

Eating notes: The shape of this fungus means that it can trap a great deal of dirt and leaf litter. It therefore needs careful cleaning.

Preserving: Dries easily.
