Cap: 4-12cm Streaked brown. Deeply convex at first flattening with age.

Gills: Free, very crowded. Dirty-white becoming pink.

Stem: Dirty white with fine darker fibres.

Spores: Pink

Flesh: White

Habitat: On rotting wood.

Frequency: Very Common

Season:  Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  Jun  Jul  Aug  Sep  Oct  Nov  Dec 

Edibility: Edible

Eating notes: Larger specimens can have a slightly sharp flavour.
