Cap: 8-20cm orange slightly flety or scaley. Can has a slight overhanging margin
Stem: Off white and tall with small balck scales
Tubes: pale grey to ochre. Adnex
Pores: Grey to ochre
Spores: Walnut brown
Flesh: White and firm. Slowly turns wine coloured and eventually black on cutting.
Habitat: On the ground with Birch trees

Eating notes: Slice thinly before drying ( as with most large mushrooms)
