Scarletina Bolete (Boletus Luridiformis)

Cap: 10-20cm Mid-brown, paler at the very edge. Initially hemispherical and slightly velvety. Later slightly convex with a kid-leather texture.

Stem: Yellowish base-colour, densely covered tiny red dots.

Tubes: Yellow green. Bruising blue.

Pores: Small round and red. Bruising strongly blue.

Spores: olivaceous-brown

Flesh: Lemon-yellow. Flushing rapidly and strongly blue-black.

Habitat: On the ground in mixed woodland.

Frequency: Frequent

Season:  Jan  Feb  Mar  Apr  May  Jun  Jul  Aug  Sep  Oct  Nov  Dec 

Edibility: Edible

Eating notes: Poisonous if eaten raw or not fully cooked.

Preserving: Can be dried.
